Let's Get Ready to be Tangled

Are you familiar with Walt Disneys' Rapunzel? The little girl who was locked up inside a tower for many years by a wicked witch? Well I'm sure lots of little girls know about Rapunzel, the girl who has a very, very, very long hair. The famous tagline for this fairytale goes something like this "Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair."

Recently, Walt Disney released its 50th installment of animated films. The management decided to rename the film into Tangled before it was released. The big budget animated film features the voices of singer-turned-actress Mandy Moore and comedian Zachary Levi. The film is an adaptation of the famous fairytale Rapunzel with a little twist. While most of fairy tales princesses always get saved by their prince, Tangled somewhat changes that perception a little bit. With Rapunzel, voiced by Mandy Moore, always saving Flynn, the male protagonist and dubbed by Zachary Levi, for the majority of the film, it really showcases girl power. There are also funny characters in the film like Pascal, Rapunzel's cute little chameleon, Maximus, the royal horse which hates Flynn, and singing thugs.

Music

Tangled also features some musical performances which include the healing incantation sang by Rapunzel when she wanted to heal what has been hurt. Here's the lyrics to that incantation:

Flower, Gleam and Glow
Let your power shine
Make the clock reverse, bring back what once was mine
Heal what has been hurt, change the fate's design
Save what has been lost, bring back what once was mine
What once was mine...

Moral Lessons

Like many of fairy tales, the film also has its own set of moral lessons. Based on my perception, I have learned that you don't have to judge a person based on his or her appearance. For example, Flynn, he was considered to be the kingdom's famous thief but deep inside of him is a person who is longing for happiness in life. Rapunzel also showcases the importance of following one's dream and happiness. With regards to Maximus and Flynn's approach to each other, it implies that one needs to cooperate and have good relations with one another for the good of everybody.

The film has a lot to offer, it will definitely paint a smile on your faces. By the way, congratulations to the people behind Tangled for garnering an Oscar nomination for the song "I See the Light" by Moore and Levi. So what are you waiting for?Go and watch that movie now!
